White Sox sweep Astros in Houston wild-card series, advance to face Guardians in ALDS

The White Sox finished off their wild-card series sweep of the Houston Astros on Wednesday night in Houston, advancing to the American League Division Series against the Cleveland Guardians.

The win gives the White Sox a postseason series victory and sends them past the Astros in the best-of-three opening round. The clincher came at Minute Maid Park, where Houston had home-field advantage for the series.

The White Sox now turn to Cleveland, the opponent they will face in the ALDS. The Guardians enter the next round after their own path through the regular season and playoff setup, creating a division-series matchup between two American League teams still alive in October.

For the White Sox, the sweep extends a season that has already outpaced expectations. After entering the postseason through the wild-card field, Chicago needed only two wins to close out Houston and move into the second round.

The next test comes against the Guardians in a best-of-five ALDS. The White Sox will try to carry the momentum from their sweep in Houston into the division series as they chase a spot in the AL Championship Series.
