The Lake County sheriff's office said five relatives were found dead inside a Mundelein home and investigators are looking for a suspect.

Five relatives were found fatally shot inside a home in Mundelein, and the Lake County sheriff's office said investigators are searching for a suspect.

Deputies and Mundelein police responded to the home after reports of shootings inside, the sheriff's office said. Officers found five people dead at the scene. The sheriff's office did not release the victims' names, ages or relationship to one another beyond describing them as relatives.

Investigators said they are treating the shooting as an isolated incident and do not believe there is a broader threat to the public. Detectives from the Lake County Major Task Force were assigned to work the scene with Mundelein police.

The sheriff's office did not say how officers were called to the home or whether anyone else was found at the scene. No suspect description or possible motive had been released.

Mundelein is a Lake County village about 35 miles northwest of downtown Chicago.

Authorities asked anyone with information to contact the Lake County Major Task Force or Mundelein police. The sheriff's office said more details would be released as investigators processed the home and interviewed witnesses.
