Open House Chicago opens more than 200 buildings in 30 neighborhoods on October 17 and 18

Open House Chicago returns Oct. 17 and 18, giving the public free access to more than 200 buildings and sites across more than 30 Chicago neighborhoods.
The Chicago Architecture Center, which has organized the architecture festival since 2011, said many of the locations are not normally open to the public.
The Chicago Architecture Center said the event presents buildings and places selected for their architecture, history and cultural role. The festival also features the businesses, organizations and creative leaders in the featured neighborhoods.
The event is free to attend.
The Chicago Architecture Center said the festival is for architecture enthusiasts and residents who want to see the city differently.
The center said visitors can explore a new neighborhood, enter a building they have passed without seeing the inside, and meet people connected to some of Chicago’s well known buildings.
Open House Chicago takes place across the city, not at a single venue. The Chicago Architecture Center said the festival shows the character of Chicago’s neighborhoods.
The Chicago Architecture Center said more information about participating sites is available at openhousechicago.org.
