Bears QB Caleb Williams injured right hamstring in 9-3 loss to Vikings at Soldier Field

Caleb Williams was carted off with a right hamstring injury late in the Bears’ 9-3 loss to the Vikings at Soldier Field. The Bears are waiting for test results. Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams injured his right hamstring late in Sunday’s 9-3 loss to the Minnesota Vikings at Soldier Field.

With about seven minutes left in the fourth quarter, Williams scrambled left and ran toward the end zone. He slid to the turf short of the goal line and stayed down.

Williams was helped off the field and taken by cart to the locker room. He had a towel over his head but pulled it away to give fans a thumbs-up as he left.

The Bears diagnosed Williams with a right hamstring injury. The team did not immediately say how severe it is or whether he will miss time.

Coach Ben Johnson told reporters after the game the Bears will run more tests and “will know a lot more tomorrow.”

Backup quarterback Tyson Bagent took over for the final possession, but the Bears’ last drive ended without a score.

Williams finished with 138 passing yards and one interception. Running back D’Andre Swift fumbled at the goal line, and the Bears offensive line was flagged multiple times for the second straight week.

The defense held Minnesota to 246 yards and did not allow a touchdown. Rain affected the game throughout the afternoon.

The Bears scored 59 points in their previous game but managed only a field goal against the Vikings.

Williams, in his third season, had not missed a game because of injury before Sunday.

Chicago is now 1-1. More tests on Williams’ hamstring will determine whether he is available.
